I managed to spend some time did a short ride this evening on Batu Ferringhi
this evening. Edwin, sorry I did not inform you earlier as I was in Penang
for the whole day to coordinate the World AIDS day parade.
It was a windy day. There were lots of head wind and cross wind along the
way. Haven't been cycling seriously for the past few months had taken a
toll on. I found it difficult to maintain my speed at 52-15(?, probably 16
but I never bother to check!) combo. I was surprise to see there wasn't
much traffic on the road consider that it was Sunday. I had to fight with
headwind when I rode pass Ferringhi hotel. It got worst when I was heading
Teluk Bahang. Strong wind along the way to the Teluk Bahang rondabout. The
cross wind made me difficult to control my bike as it kept on pushing my
bike's front wheel side way. Initial plan was to ride up to the dam but I
decided to cut the ride short when I realized that the weather was not on my
favorable side.
It started raining when I head back. The rain got heavier as I was heading
back to my Tanjung Bunga house. I was force to stop twice when the rain
fall became to heavy for me to continue.
I also found out the brake faded away due to the heavy rain fall. Maybe
fixing disc brakes on road bike is worth cosidering although it would cost
some weigh penalty. In fact, Avid has already come out a road disc but it
is meant for touring bike. I can foresee in the near future they would come
out a system that would be as light as the present road canti. Shimano has
come out XTR disc that they claim no heavier than the XTR V-brake. So, it
is not impossible at all.
Next week I will be checking out the new XC trail at Batu Kawan in the
morning. If I still have energy left after the ride. Edwin, care for an
easy spin in Junjung???
Time taken: started at 1630hours, finished at 1730hours with two stops when
I reached the front gate of Ratu Mutiara condo. It took longer than I anticipated. I
normaly take 45 minutes on my Erzulie on 1.5 slicks.
Oh yeah, you guys might wonder what the hell is SSS ride. It is Syiok, Short
and Scenic ride...:)
