Jamboree 2003

Dear All,

2003 "Jembori" was definitely the highlight for Natasha and me up to date. We cant thank the organizers (de'Rojak side and KOTRT side) enough for the experience. At the drop of a hat or Mech and Lan' ski cap, we would do it again. Even the rain did not damper our spirits. For me especially, I just loved climbing Penang Hill in that type of weather.

We had our moments as the two of us descended probably due to Natasha's frustrations of ride interruptions from landslides and super-muddy conditions. Our bikes became significantly heavier due to the enveloping mud. Upon seeing that, my first thought was of Mech's and the rest of "you guys" High-rollers... 2.7 inch mudbrown Panaracer XC Firepro 2.1s anyone!?!.

We came to the finishing line in high spirits and could sense Natasha's excitement as she passed a waving Adli in his Ford Escape without even blinking an eyelid. The best part of it was seeing her cross the finishing line (to a clapping Azhar and a bunch of the organisers) with a look of pure happiness and pride as she received her medal only to look at me and saying softly "...medal" (only to lose it later). That was priceless.

To the rest of the guys, too bad we didnt all do the Sunday ride. Understandably, we all had our vices that weekend. I guess the FR and DH guys did what they came to do and so did the XC guys. Most importantly all had their fun.

Thanks go out to Zaf for volunteering on the arrangements, Zaf, 30 odd kepala, 30 jenis perangai...Kudos dude!

KOTRT guys.. Wshah, Azmi etc...our helmets off to yous for a beautifully organized event.

And to all, thanks for playing your parts in our little experience.

Natasha did email me these words to be added

"Dear All,

I would like to say that the Jamboree 2003 was an excellent event and it was well organized. It was a remarkable experience for me. The best part of the jamboree was that I got to see what mountain biking was all about, well I did managed to get to the top of the 'mountain' even though I almost lost my sanity in there due to frustration. But the best part was getting to see it done with 'team work/spirit' which really suprised me.  Completing the jamboree was a big accomplishment for me.

My only regret was I lost my medal.....

Well... right now I'm looking forward for the next jamboree and lets hope it's going to be a dry day.

Regards
