Jamboree 2003

By Nordin Idris Munir aka Mechman,
Participant No. 60, de'Rojak MTB, KL

THANKS A MILLION TO ALL de'ROJAKERS AND ESPECIALLY TO ALL THE KOTRT MEMBERS!!!! for making one of the most memorable moments in my life.

Though we, the FR/DH riders went up with the help of Penang Hill's trams, the enjoyment off descendings the hill which comprises with all kind of trails that a rider could wish for.. technicals, fast descends, singletracks, switchbacks and not forgetting thanks to all the rocks sections that they have, we really enjoy every moment of it. And thats why we, the four of us, went up and do it all over again!! :)

I don't think that i will get the enjoyment of climbing the hill on tarmac with the 40pounder, dual crown 7" travel fork. Well at least, i've done that last year... and suffered. he he..

Rolling down from the tram station to the second check point, we called it the "human-chain" descend, where the fun started. There was no traffic, no riders was on the trail passing bikes down to the flat land. We found out that it was very do-able than the first trip down. Reminded us a part of Mondo Cool in Kiara. :)

After having fun on the rock sections trail behind 84, we reached the disappoinment of bailing out the land slide. Which at that moment of arrival, the thought of crossing it was the best choice. Well. we would be risking our lives if we still opt with that choice. So, we back trailed to 84. Backtrailing the rocky section was much fun as it already was when going in. :)) Those fat tires really knows how to walk on the angled rocks.. did i mentioned slippery? ;)

Off we went to 47 after a small discussion among us on where to head on. The decission was to finish off going down Mt Erskine. Now we had another fun section to remember about. The "stairway to heaven". Which at that time and condition, we called it the "stairway to hell" since it's going down this year. Had a great fall on the first section. The armours really saved me there. It makes falling down feels great and fun!! laughing while getting up from a fall? haha.. well thats how it felt for me.. great!! :))

Thanks again to all.. and Zaf, on behalf off all the derojakers, i would say the trip, the stay wouldn't be as much fun as it is. You made things happens bro!! COOL BRADAHH!!

KOTRT, can't wait for your next jamboree!!
